Symantec Endpoint Encryption protects data with a choice of encryption algorithms that includes the most recent National Institute of Standards and Technology standard, AES-256. The encryption is designed to withstand even the determined efforts of a skilled thief with physical possession by fully encrypting all disk sectors?not just data?to prevent operating system ?hacks? that would circumvent encryption. In addition, it requires pre-boot authentication using a password or smart card so only authorized individuals can access data or even the most elementary system services.
